STO Releases Latest 1.2 Patch

Just a little over a month after Season 1.1 was released, Star Trek Online is back again with another content update.

Season 1.2 builds up on the social dimension of the game with the introduction of the Squad Support system. Thanks to their special level scaling technology, you can now team up with a friend regardless of their level, whether they’re new to the game or has already advanced further.

The Accolade system, on the other hand, caters to those sporting a competitive streak. Accolades are pretty much in-game achievements, as it presents a new approach to monitor your stats.

Star Trek Online’s Season 1.1. Now Live!

There’s so much excitement for the major patch that just launched for STO as we speak.

Just to refresh your memories, Season 1.1 is introducing the Difficulty Slider, allowing for three different difficulties (Normal, Advanced, Elite) to be selected on a given mission.

In connection with this development, the new Injury System will be applied to those in Advanced and Elite modes, wherein players are given tougher penalties to make up for the better rewards they receive.

STO Releases PvP-Centered Ask Cryptic

In its 21st installment, Ask Cryptic provides answers on PvP-related questions submitted by fans to the development team.

With creating new instanced games being a top priority, plans for open PvP are taking a temporary backseat, as there is no ETA on when this can be expected.

For some upcoming maps, an offering of 10-man teams, an upgrade from the current five-man setup, are also in the works.

Trekkies Break World Record on V-Day

A record is a record, as they say. Trekkies who trooped to the London Millennium Bridge on Valentine’s Day set a new world record for the “largest gathering of Star Trek Fans dressed in character.” The 99 fans that attended is nothing to scoff at—because honestly, outside of a convention, when’s the last time you saw a motley crew of 100 cosplayers? Cryptic Studios documented the whole event and posted in the official STO website, so head there to see if you can spot any of your British pals.
